WHAT DID A WISE LAWYER ASK JESUS?

A lawyer asked Jesus this question, calling Him "Teacher":

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”                                                                                    Matthew 22:36-40  New International Version (NIV)

No matter who you are, where you are, what you are, and why you are, why not consider:

The Ten Commandments ..... and ...... Rules for Happy Living:

  1.  Do not worship any other gods.    Put God first.

  2.  Do not make any idols.                 Life is more than stuff.

  3.  Do not misuse the name of God.  Use your words well.

  4.  Keep the Sabbath holy.                 Use your time well.

  5.  Honor your father and mother.     Respect your parents.

  6.  Do not murder.                             Value people.

  7.  Do not commit adultery.              Control yourself.

  8.  Do not steal.                                 Work hard.

  9.  Do not lie.                                    Tell the truth.

10.  Do not covet.                               Be content.

BUT YOU MIGHT BE ASKING, "WHAT DOES THE WORD "LOVE" REALLY MEAN?"

As God’s people, we are tasked to share Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit, and leave the results to God.  What does this mean?  Reflect God’s love for us in our love of others.  Tell what Jesus Christ has done in our lives, and what he wants done in the lives of others (the plan of salvation).  Then we let God’s Spirit convict people of their sins and save them, not us.

But what kind of love?  See the unique concepts of love (insights from careful research under "What Is Love?" index tab on this web site) between “philautia” (love of self, seeking without giving, narcissism, need and/or want “love”) to “agape”love and the “gift” of Holy love, reflected by the words in the Holy Bible, John 3:16:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

We are the messenger whose job is to deliver the Gift to those who do not know Jesus Christ.

The message must be received for it to be a gift; otherwise it just sits on a shelf.

So .... have you accepted this gift?
